Who Is a Heroine?

The Walk of the Heroines grew out of a community-wide commitment to honoring the diversity of women’s private and public contributions. The Walk project challenges the very meaning of heroism. For some, heroism is associated with dramatic moments of decisive courage; for others, heroism is expressed in sustained engagement in life’s difficulties — the less publicly recognized acts of heroism that are often carried out by women.
