Portland's Walk of the Heroines

Artistic Contributions

We are proud to announce that after a national search, led by the Regional Arts and Culture Council, Linda Stein and the team of Masayuki Nagase and Michele Ku have been selected to create artwork for the garden.

New York artist Linda Stein’s proposal, Heroic Visions, imagines three larger than life bronze figures for the stage wall.  Inspiration for these sculptures will be drawn from her series, Knights of Protection, which have been exhibited to acclaim in New York and Naples, Florida.

Based in Berkeley, California, Masayuki Nagase and Michele Ku propose a series of granite boulder sculptures, carved with various patterns of water movement. Providing beautiful seating, the carved boulders are a metaphor for the strengths and energies of women.
